Wukong and Kong

About

Wukong and Kong is a live performance exploring the tension between parental expectations, control, and personal choice. Combining live acting, shadow puppetry, puppetry, projection, sound, and audience interaction, the production follows a journey of self-discovery shaped by family expectations and the desire to choose one’s own path.

The performance also incorporates bilingual surtitles and moments of audience participation, bringing spectators directly into the theatrical space.

Stage & Technical Direction

I worked as Stage Manager and Technical Director, coordinating rehearsals, production schedules, backstage operations, and communication across the creative and technical teams.

I also supported the integration of projection, sound, digital media, and interactive elements into the live performance, ensuring that these systems worked coherently within the structure, rhythm, and practical demands of the production.

Website Design & Development

I independently designed and built the production’s official website, taking full responsibility for its visual identity, information structure, layout, and digital presentation.

The website functioned as the production’s main public-facing digital platform, bringing together performance information, creative team profiles, touring dates, and visual materials. It also allowed me to extend the production’s visual language beyond the stage and establish a consistent digital identity for the project.

Presentation

Wukong and Kong was presented across multiple international festival contexts in 2026, including a three-day run at Festival Off Avignon and subsequent performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The touring process further developed my practice across stage management, technical coordination, digital media, and online visual presentation.
