Piano at Fingertips
Interactive Audiovisual Installation, 2025.3

Background
Piano at Fingertips explores the relationship between bodily movement, virtual space, and sound. The project was initially inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, in which the strings of the lyre become a symbolic connection between the real world and the underworld. In this work, the idea of the string is reimagined as a bridge between the body and a digital environment.

Research
The project explores gesture-based musical interaction and hand-tracking systems, focusing on how movement can be translated into sound without a physical instrument. It considers the digital interface itself as a new form of instrument.

Design
The work reduces the image of strings to a series of vertical virtual lines. When a visitor moves their fingers through the lines, they bend and respond while triggering corresponding sounds.

Instead of playing keys or physical strings, the audience performs directly in the air. Each gesture creates an immediate combination of visual distortion and sound, turning movement into a live audiovisual performance.
