Get Closer
Motion Capture / 3D Animation, Group Project|2025.4

Background
Get Closer is a group project exploring the tension between care and control within parent–child relationships. The story follows a child attempting to escape from two approaching figures, only to discover that these haunting shadows are actually the child’s parents.
The work reflects on how protection and care can gradually become an invisible form of pressure when they begin to limit individual independence.

Research
The visual research focused on distorted bodies, shadows, and fragmented human forms. These references helped create an unsettling and oppressive atmosphere, making the familiar parent–child relationship feel increasingly ambiguous.
Rather than relying on dialogue, the project expresses this emotional tension through bodily movement and spatial relationships.

Design
The project combines motion capture with a digitally constructed 3D environment. Real human movement was recorded and translated into animated characters, while the surrounding space was designed to reinforce a sense of pursuit, confinement, and emotional distance.

As the relationship between the child and the two shadow-like figures gradually develops, movement and visual distortion lead to the final reveal and shift the audience’s understanding of the relationship.
